Abyssal Escape Tier List: All 5 Killers Ranked S to B
Abyssal Escape tier list for the playtest roster: Fleetway and Furnace at S, 2017X and NMI at A, X at B, with the reasoning behind every placement.
Ranking Abyssal Escape killers is unusual because the roster only has five entries, and each one is deliberately built around a different skill. A tier list here is not really about raw power — it is about how much value you get per hour of practice.
This ranking reflects playtest-era kits. It is an editorial assessment based on ability values, phase scaling and how punishable each kit is, not on win-rate telemetry.
The tier list
| Tier | Killers | Why they sit here |
|---|---|---|
| S | Fleetway Super Sonic, Furnace | High impact with a low execution cost, and both scale into phase 3 |
| A | 2017X, No More Innocence | Higher ceilings, but the transformation forces you to relearn inputs mid-match |
| B | X (the Deity) | The best learning tool in the game, and the weakest late-game killer |

S tier
Fleetway Super Sonic
The simplest kit in the game and one of the strongest. Flight reveals every survivor while also being a mobility tool, the laser covers range that no other killer has, and the grab-plus-flight-plus-wall combo converts a single pick into burst damage while dragging a survivor away from healing.
Its phase 3 buff is a large speed increase, which is the most straightforwardly powerful late-game upgrade on the roster — no new inputs required, just more of the thing you were already doing.
The only real weakness is that Fleetway has no transformation and no resource system, so there is nothing to scale beyond raw speed. Against a coordinated team that refuses to heal alone, the grab loses a lot of value.
Furnace
Furnace sits in S because heat is a resource you can bank. Charge Heat is punishable — it locks you in place and stuns interrupt it — but everything you buy with heat converts directly into pressure: flight reveals the map, claw slash extends its dash and applies burn, and Scorched Earth is the only ability in the game that hits multiple survivors at once.
The phase 3 auto-refill to 50% removes the kit's biggest weakness at exactly the moment it matters most. That combination of a strong early game and an automatic late-game upgrade is why Furnace ranks above the two transformation killers.
A tier
2017X
The highest ceiling in the game, held back only by the cost of learning it. Base form is a rushdown kit where top speed doubles as a full-map scan, spin dash rewards precise lines, and obsession hands out stun reduction, movement speed and cooldown reduction against a marked target.
Then phase 3 replaces everything: a 35-damage ranged M1, faster ability animations from Impatience, and the roar, savage jump, vicious grab sequence. That is the strongest damage in the roster.
It sits in A rather than S because the form switch happens on a timer you do not control, and players who have not drilled both halves lose tempo right when the match is decided.
No More Innocence
NMI has the best information game in Abyssal Escape for two full phases. Screen transportation moves you across the map and indicates all players, deceit punishes grouping by cloning a survivor beside their teammate, and hallucination covers your approach.
But phase 3 deletes the televisions, which removes the entire traversal network the first two phases were built around. You trade map-wide awareness for a melee kit with a 30-damage dash, a slowing spring and a mark-and-teleport. It is strong, but it is also the single biggest playstyle change in the game, and it arrives whether or not you are positioned for it.
B tier
X (the Deity)
X is not a bad killer. It has the most forgiving kit in the game — invisibility plus a clone for 30 damage with a full-map reveal, a 50-damage ring trap that doubles as teleport infrastructure, and peekaboo for another 30.
The problem is structural: X receives no phase buffs. Every other killer gets stronger as the clock runs down while X stays exactly the same. In a match that reaches phase 3, you are playing a phase 1 killer against a phase 3 opponent.
That is a fine trade for a starter character, and X remains the correct pick for your first sessions. It just means X tops out lower than the rest.
How to read this list
- Pick by tier only if you play ranked-style and want results fast. Fleetway and Furnace both deliver without demanding a second move set.
- Pick by ceiling if you plan to main one killer. 2017X and NMI reward practice more than anything else on the list, and their phase 3 forms are the strongest in the game once learned.
- Do not treat B tier as unplayable. X's ring trap alone wins chases that other killers have to earn.
