Abyssal Escape 2011X Skin: Chase Theme, Layers & What It Does
The Abyssal Escape 2011X skin is one of X's three cosmetics, with its own chase theme and layers. What changes, what does not, and why videos list it as a killer.
2011X is not a separate killer — it is a skin for X (the Deity), and one of only three cosmetics that killer has. It is also the most commonly misunderstood item in Abyssal Escape, because a lot of gameplay videos title it like its own character. This page explains what the skin actually changes and why it keeps showing up as if it were a killer.
What 2011X actually is
X has three skins:
| Skin | What it is |
|---|---|
| Alternate variant | Minor differences — mostly skin tone and the amount of blood on the gloves |
| 2011X | Full reskin with its own chase theme and layers |
| Disaster X | Callback skin that restores the original Disaster chase themes |
2011X is the middle tier in terms of effort, and by most accounts the best-looking of the three. It replaces the model, and unlike the alternate variant it comes with audio: a distinct chase theme plus its own layer set.
Because the model is so different from default X, creators list it in video titles as though it were a fifth or sixth killer. It is not. The kit is unchanged.

What changes and what does not
| Element | Changes with 2011X? |
|---|---|
| Character model | Yes |
| Chase theme | Yes — unique track |
| Layers | Yes — dedicated set |
| Abilities | No |
| Damage values | No |
| Phase behaviour | No |
So you keep hide and seek, ring trap and peekaboo exactly as they are, including the standard 20-damage M1 and the ring trap's 50 damage. X still receives no phase buffs, which is X's core weakness and not something a skin can fix.
Why it looks like a separate killer
Three reasons, and they compound:
- The model is a full replacement, not a recolour, so it reads as a different character in thumbnails.
- The chase theme is unique. Audio is a huge part of how players identify a killer in this genre, and 2011X sounds different from X.
- Creators label it as a killer. Titles like "2011X killer gameplay" are accurate about what you see on screen and misleading about the roster.
If you are searching because you want to know whether to unlock 2011X for its abilities: there are no unique abilities. You are buying presentation.
Is the skin worth it?
That depends entirely on why you play. If you main X and like the 2011-era design, it is the strongest cosmetic on the roster — it is the only one with both a new model and a new chase theme, and the layers give it more presence in a chase than the default.
If you are looking for a stronger killer, no skin will help. X's problem is the phase system: it gets nothing in phase 2 or 3 while Furnace, Fleetway, NMI and 2017X all scale up. A cosmetic does not touch that.
Common mix-ups
- 2011X vs 2017X. Different characters entirely. 2017X is a separate killer with top speed, spin dash and obsession, and it transforms into the Broken Face in phase 3.
- 2011X vs Disaster X. Both are X skins. Disaster X restores the original Disaster chase themes; 2011X has its own new track.
- 2011X vs the Deity. The Deity is X's alias, not a skin. Same killer, different name.

FAQ
Is 2011X a killer or a skin?
A skin. It is one of X's three cosmetics and does not add or change any ability.
Does 2011X change the chase music?
Yes. It ships with a dedicated chase theme and its own layers, which the default X model does not have.
Does the skin improve damage or phase buffs?
No. Damage values, ability behaviour and the absence of phase buffs all stay exactly as they are on default X.
