Abyssal Escape Deity Explained: Who It Is & Full X Killer Kit
The Deity in Abyssal Escape is X, the free starter killer. Full kit breakdown: hide and seek, ring trap and peekaboo, with real damage values and when to use each.
If you have seen "the Deity" in an Abyssal Escape video or in the killer select screen and wondered who it is, the answer is simple: the Deity is X, the free starter killer. The name is an alias in the same style Dead by Daylight uses for its killers — 2017X is called the Broken Face, and X is called the Deity. Several players still know the character as Crimson EXE, which is where the confusion comes from.
So this page covers one killer under three names: X, the Deity, Crimson EXE.
Why the aliases matter
The game does not label X as "X" in every place. The alias shows up in the intro presentation and in community discussion, which is why searches for "Deity" and "X" lead to the same character. If a guide tells you the Deity has invisibility plus teleport rings, that is X — no ambiguity, no separate unlock.

The kit
X is deliberately the simplest killer in the game, because it is the one you get for free and the one new players learn on.
| Ability | Damage | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Hide and seek | 30 | Turn invisible, leave a clone behind, and indicate every survivor |
| Ring trap | 50 | Place a red ring; hitting it costs half a survivor's health, and you can teleport between rings |
| Peekaboo | 30 | Spawn shadow clones around a targeted survivor with you hidden among them |
The basic M1 deals the standard 20 damage in phase 1, same as every other killer.
Hide and seek
Invisibility that leaves a clone standing where you were, while all survivors are indicated for the duration. Running into someone during it deals 30 damage.
This is the ability that makes X viable. It is close to free damage, and it doubles as a full-map scan. Experienced X players open almost every chase with it.
Ring trap
Places one red ring where you stand. Two functions:
- A survivor who runs into it takes 50 damage — half their health bar.
- You can click any ring on the map to teleport to it, which turns the ring network into a mobility system.
The damage half looks broken until you consider the size of the ring. It is small enough that hitting it is genuinely the survivor's mistake. The teleport half is the part serious players value, because it lets X collapse on an objective from across the map.
Peekaboo
Target a survivor, and static floods the screen while shadowy clones spawn around them with you hidden among the copies. If the survivor does nothing, they take 30 damage. If they run into two clones without finding the real you, they take damage. If they find and hit the real X, you are stunned and lose all chase momentum.
Peekaboo is the one ability in the kit that is genuinely luck-based on both sides. Survivors cannot reliably identify the real clone, so it often reads as free damage — but when they guess right, the killer is punished for using their own ability.
The phase problem
X gains no meaningful phase buffs. Phase 1, phase 2 and phase 3 all play identically, which makes X the only killer on the roster that ignores the phase system entirely.
That is a weakness in long matches. Every other killer gets stronger as the clock runs down while X stays exactly the same, so an X player has to win early or rely on raw mechanical skill late.
Skins
X is the only killer with a real cosmetics line — three skins in total.
| Skin | Notes |
|---|---|
| Alternate variant | Minor differences, mostly glove colour and blood |
| 2011X | Full reskin with its own chase theme and layers |
| Disaster X | Restores the original Disaster chase themes |
The 2011X skin has its own dedicated page if you want the cosmetics detail rather than the gameplay.
Should you main the Deity?
For your first twenty matches, yes. The kit teaches the fundamentals — how indicators work, how survivors route loops, how much 50 damage actually means — without asking you to manage a resource bar or relearn inputs mid-match.
Past that point, X falls behind. If you find yourself winning chases but losing long games, the phase system is why, and switching to Furnace or Fleetway will fix it faster than practising X will.

FAQ
Is the Deity a separate killer from X?
No. The Deity is X's in-game alias, in the same style as Dead by Daylight killer titles. Community members also call the character Crimson EXE.
How much damage does ring trap do?
50 damage, which is half of a survivor's health bar. The ring also works as a teleport anchor.
Does X get phase buffs?
No. X plays identically in all three phases, which is why it is strong early and weak in long matches.
